Energate's Consumer Connected Demand Response (CCDR) is an innovative solution set designed to meet the needs of a Demand Response industry in transition. Energate works in collaboration with Utilities to ensure that technology adapts to their specific needs and program goals.
The CCDR solution is configurable as two-way DR over AMI, which is represented in the diagram.
The AMI solution enables Time of Use (TOU) and Critical Peak Pricing (CPP) information to be communicated to the Z100 smart thermostat through a ZigBee enabled smart meter. Consumption data can be collected from the ZigBee enabled smart meter for enhanced measurement and evaluation purposes.
Through the Comfort Screen on the Energate Z100 thermostat, the customer selects a Comfort Setting which determines how the thermostat responds to increases in electricity prices. For example, if the customer selects Max Savings then the thermostat will move quickly to the maximum offset temperature as the price increase. Similarly, Max Comfort essentially ignores price increases allowing the customer to maximize their comfort level. The desired comfort setting can easily be changed to meet the needs of the customer.
A Consumer Portal is available as an option for utilities to assess the additional impact of the Consumer Portal on customer behavior.
The Load Management System (LMS) allows utilities to set up a future load control event or immediately run a load control event, send text messages to customers, review event related statistics as well as manage devices deployed in the field.
